Facilitation Flare

This course is appropriate for anyone who facilitates meetings, workshops, planning sessions etc. If participants have an upcoming course or meeting they need to facilitate, they will be able to immediately apply learnings to that project.

It is available in one, two, or multi-day formats. The length of the program depends on how deeply participants need to understand adult learning principles, how comfortable they are with public speaking, whether they will be designing their programs, and whether they will be creating scripts for other facilitators. 

Following is the outline for a one-day format. Following that is a list of additional learning objectives that can be accomplished in both a two- and five-day version. Note: Clients can pick and choose from any learning objective to custom-design their own course.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of the one-day course participants will be able to:

• Describe and apply the four principles of adult learning
• Describe and apply key principles of the four adult learning styles.
• Develop group ground rules critical to facilitation success
• Comfortably and confidently run Question and Answer sessions
• Effectively respond to unexpected questions and situations
• Understand and apply effective brainstorming techniques

The two-day version also includes all the above learning objectives as well as the following ones:

• Understand the pros and cons of Ice Breakers
• Select and develop appropriate Ice Breakers
• Deal effectively with disruptive behaviours
• Enhance confidence in public speaking
• Apply foundational skills of public speaking

The multi-day version also includes some or all these learning objectives:

• Develop confidence thinking-on-their feet with tailored speaking improv exercises
• Explain the 5-step learning design process
• Apply the 5-step learning process
• Develop a Facilitator Script for other facilitators
• Explain and apply the power of visuals as a key learning and retention technique
