Through numerous interactive and self-reflection exercises, participants will learn how to approach any communication with confidence and clarity. Specifically, at the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Distinguish assertive communication from passive, aggressive, and passive-aggressive styles.
  2. Use assertive language structures to express needs, boundaries, and expectations clearly.
  3. Apply assertive communication skills in challenging workplace situations (feedback, disagreement, conflict).
  4. Demonstrate confident non-verbal cues that reinforce assertiveness.
  5. Use techniques to stay calm and composed when under pressure.

Key concepts participants will discuss and apply after conducting a self-assessment include understanding how assertiveness impacts trust, collaboration, and performance. By understand their own internal barriers, emotional triggers, and anxieties, participants will discover how to use a Trigger Map to understand and adjust their responses. Numerous simulations allow everyone to practice new skills including assertive language, assertive body language, specific skills for difficult conversations, and how to stay calm under pressure.
